Snapper New Zealand

fresh, affordable seafood in a relaxed atmosphere
In the sea (har har) of restaurants serving fish in Bangkok, Snapper stands out for several reasons.
Their selection of imported New Zealand fish tastes like it was just caught that day. I strongly recommend the full flavored and firm Tarahiki.
While they do charge separately for chips and other sides, the quality to price ratio makes it quite affordable. A half scoop of chips is enough for two people.
Overall, it's a relaxed environment with great food at decent prices. It's a solid spot for a date, and even better if you pop open a bottle of white wine. Average cost: 300, Number of people: 3

Ahh, finally!
I no longer have to get a 9 hour flight to cure my cravings for the kind of fish and chips I grew up with. Haven't really explored the menu in great depth because I'm stuck on the fried red gunard and chips. It is just about perfect - so why would I go any further!
Service is really great and friendly as well which always adds to the dining experience. The whole place has been really well done and once you've tried it you won't be eating fish and chips anywhere else in Bangkok.
There is one thing missing that would make it the perfect experience (for me anyway) - potato cakes (or 'Potato Scallops' if you come from Sydney), battered and fried golden brown. Please add it to the menu - I can be the consultant!

The best fish & chips in town
Great fish and chips with imported NZ fish (THB 180). The fish is cooked perfectly with very little batter, unlike almost every other place in Bangkok. You can choose the fish independently from the chips so if you prefer you can have fish and salad instead. The chips come in two different types (standard or thick cut) and two sizes (THB 75 and THB 110). The salads are also excellently done and with tasty dressings and reasonably priced (THB 180). The atmosphere is more that of a cafe than a restaurant but this is a place worth going for the food alone. Average cost: 500, Number of people: 2

Good basic fish & chips. Pleasant but ineffective service
This is a casual seafood restaurant with a fair selection of seafood as well as fish and chips and salads. I was looking for whitebait on the menu since it is an NZ fish & chip shop but this was not available, however I chose a pan-fried fish dish with tomato and mint salsa and my partner chose battered fish and chips. There was a good selection of sauces and you could have thick or thin chips. My partners fish arrived with chips and my chips (but no fish). The battered fish and chips was declared to be delicious (albeit a small serve of fish). Unfortunately I waited another 20 mins (in uncomfortable seating) and there was no sign of my fish. I asked the waitress to check but she did not get back to me. When it finally arrived (with no explanation), the first meal (and chips) were well and truly finished and I found the fish a bit dry and over cooked. I did advise the staff at the end that our meals did not arrived together and the reason I got was that the pan-fried fish takes longer than deepfried! Anyway all in all great chips and good deep fried fish, so stixk to a basic fish and chip selection. Average cost: 350, Number of people: 2

A taste of home!
But even better - we love the variety and the batter is way better than any of the fish & chips shops back home! Chips are the best in Bangkok, salads are fresh - great size servings and the service staff always so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend for regular visits!

The World's Best Fish and Chips Are In Bangkok!
For great seafood (and the best fish and chips I have had anywhere in the world) I wholeheartedly recommend Snappers. The food is always fresh, the fish and chips are perfectly cooked and never greasy, there is a good menu selection, reasonable prices, friendly staff and a great location. Definetly a two thumbs up.
