How to use ROB

ROB is Bangkok's first Social Restaurant Directory and dedicated to providing you with the best and most fun information on where to wine and dine in Bangkok.

We are in the last stages of development of ROB and this may interfere with some of the functions you can use on the platform. However, we are working hard to make everything as smooth as possible to make sure you will enjoy your time on ROB.

Some of the tools that are at your disposal are listed below:

Diners are invited to express their views on the restaurants they visit. At many of the ROB restaurants you will be given Review Vouchers that reward you for your writing efforts and extend useful gifts in the form of discounts and promotions. Comments can also directly be published via the Facebook social plugin that you can find at the bottom of each restaurant profile.

'Book an Event' is under development and will be ready by the middle of May 2010. This tool will allow users to organize parties and events at their favorite venues. For more information click here .

By becoming a Fan of a ROB restaurant you automatically add your email address to their personal database after which they can send you newsletters with updates on new dishes, events, special discounts, etc. Simply visit the profiles of your favourite restaurants and add yourself to their Fan base. Go ahead and try it out!

Almost all information and pages on ROB are shareable on Facebook. If you had a great meal at ABC restaurant, simply visit their profile on ROB and recommend it to your friends. Soon you will be able to share menu items as well and vote for your favourite dishes. Eventually ROB will publish the favourite dishes of Bangkok so you will be able to find out where to get the best of everything…the best hamburger, Tom Yam, Tandoori etc. of Bangkok.

The search engine assists in finding the restaurants of your choice. You can search on type of cuisine, location and price range. An advanced search will be introduced in the beginning of 2011 where diners can search for things like romantic restaurants, wifi, good view, life music etc.

For diners who are not sure what they are looking for, the 'Surprise Me' button could help. With this function, the search engine selects a restaurant at random and displays the profile. Certainly fun for the more adventurous diner...

The ROB directory contains more than 1,500 restaurants , but is far from complete. We are always open to ideas and would like to hear from you what venues we are still missing in our database. Please send us a quick email with details and we will look into it as soon as possible.

Fun articles on many subjects related to food and restaurants are provided by our writers. We already have a vegetarian column and a Wine blog. This editorial part of ROB will be one of the main features of the site and help you navigate through the tasty world of Bangkok.
