A “Taste” of Something Special
Located on the 7th floor of the Westin Grand Sukhumvit, Taste restaurant does a pretty good job of living up to their cheeky name. It’s a splendidly contemporary venue with extremely high ceilings, sensual architectural lines, soft blonde wood accents, and a beige and sea foam color palate. The eye is immediately drawn to the large modern wood chandeliers that dominate the room, and your appetite is stimulated by the smell of something wonderful cooking in the contemporary gas pizza oven.

It’s a spacious open kitchen design with lots of stainless steel and marble accents that evoke a laid back atmosphere that is warm and inviting.
Priced at 1890 Baht net (food only, free flow wine is and additional 590 Baht) the Weekend Seafood Buffet is a bargain. You won’t find mountains of seafood chilling on ice or copious amounts of everything in excess; instead you are welcomed by a tasteful array of well executed dishes that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate. The Alaskan King Crab on the buffet is superior. The crab is cut so that it gives you access to the most luxuriously meaty parts, and it is perfectly cooked so that the meat remains juicy and succulent without being stringy.
Taste also boasts something rarely seen on buffets….fresh truffles. It’s hard to miss the distinctive look of fresh truffles prominently displayed by the Italian food station. Here you will find homemade pasta, ravioli, and fresh baked pizzas and breads.
We highly recommend the Seafood Ravioli with Fresh Shaved Truffle & White Cream Sauce. The pasta is cooked to order and can only be described as sinful. It’s creamy and rich and satisfying on a visceral level. Other wickedly decadent indulgences include delicate Pan Seared Foie Gras with Peaches & Balsamic Reduction which is cooked ala minute and served table side, and the Jumbo Steamed Shrimp (which are mercifully peeled for your convenience), as well as the always provocative and sensual Chilled Raw Oysters on the half shell. Be sure to order the Grilled Rock Lobster and ask them to grill it with butter to make it extra special. The Grilled Shrimp are also worth trying especially when you ask the friendly chefs to make it with fresh garlic and butter.
There are some spectacular Thai and Asian fusion dishes on the buffet including a delightful Thai Beef Salad, the Mixed Seafood & Rice Noodle Salad and an extraordinary Prawn Kataifi with Miso & Chili Paste. Other highlights include the grilled to order Lamb Chops and the Suckling Pig, which has super crunchy skin and rich white meat. It’s expertly matched with soft steamed white bread and an excellent hoisin sauce.
There’s no need to feel guilty about indulging in all the heavier, high end items on the buffet as Westin has teamed up with SuperFoods RX in the USA and made a commitment to offer guests super foods that are healthy and rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients. You’ll find plenty of healthy salads, yummy grilled veggies, and many fruit options on the buffet, as well as a healthy sashimi and sushi bar with delicacies prepared from the chef at the Westin’s Kisso Japanese restaurant. It’s also easy to indulge your sweet tooth with a nice selection of lovely cakes, pies, Thai desserts and a tempting ice cream bar that features made to order waffles and your choice of super premium Mövenpick ice cream.
In addition to the weekend seafood buffet, Taste offers a daily lunch buffet for 990 Baht; a weekday dinner buffet that highlight rotating items (such as truffles, hand carved Serrano ham or caviar) for 1413 Baht net, and a Sunday lunch buffet for 1590 Baht net. Please call ahead for additional information or reservations and times at 02 207 8000.
