Chef Gaetano Palumbo puts passion on a plate with his modern interpretations of traditional dishes that are bursting with authentic flavors and ingredients imported directly from Italy.
Located in the Royal Orchid Sheraton along the Chao Phrya River, Giorgio’s has a contemporary feel with colorful glassware and art on the walls. You can choose to dine inside or outside on the comfortable deck where you can enjoy spectacular views of the river while sipping champagne and watching the sunset.
Chef Gaetano Palumbo wanted to create a menu that was like a map of Italy. Instead of focusing on a single region of Italy, you can instead take a food tour that gives you the best that Italy has to offer overall. With an intense focus on the quality of ingredients, the chef relies heavily on imported items to maintain the authenticity of the dishes he prepares. Anything that is not imported is sourced locally or made fresh; including some of the in-house cheeses that the chef prepares himself in order to ensure that his exacting standards are met.
Start off by trying either the Avocado Tartar with Whisked Baccalas and Tomato Confit or the Grilled Portabella Mushroom with Asparagus in Mozzarella Sauce. The creamy avocado is the perfect companion to the salty baccala and the sundried tomatoes subtly add tartness and texture. The mushroom dish is also masterful, as the portabellas are smokey with a meaty texture that works well with the crunchy asparagus, sweet tomatoes and creamy buffalo mozzarella sauce.
The Risotto with Prawn and Salami is another provocative dish. It’s not your typical mushroom risotto with truffles that you find at every other Italian restaurant; instead it is a bold and hearty risotto that the chef serves perfectly ‘al dente’. The salami literally melts down and is absorbed into the creamy rice. It is the epitome of risottos and the succulent prawn adds another dimension of flavor to this elegant dish.
Pastas lovers should indulge in the Ponsotti Filled with Roasted Veal in Truffle Essence. This is about as close as you can get to “heaven on a fork”. The decadent cheese sauce is almost hedonistic in its intensity of earthy truffle essence, while the veal is tender and flavorsome.
Main courses to try include the Stewed Beef Cheek with Crispy Potato and Pea Puree and the Black Cod with Sundried Tomatoes and Capers. Both dishes are sophisticated with bright, fresh clean flavors on the plate that leave a tantalizing impression long after the meal is finished. Don’t skip dessert, as Giorgio’s has a playful and delectable version of Coffee Tiramisu which comes in a jar instead of the typical martini glass and is served with light and crispy lady fingers that you dip into the creamy layered dessert. The Pane Cotta with Fresh Berry Sauce is also a delightful treat.
It’s not often that you find a restaurant where absolutely everything that touches your lips is delicious, but this is the case at Giorgio’s. The menu is exciting and fresh with many familiar flavors presented in new and innovate ways. Every dish is well seasoned, cohesive and thoughtful. With an extensive wine list, romantic river views, excellent service and refined cuisine, Giorgio’s gives you everything that you would expect and more. They are open for dinner only between the hours of 06:00 pm - 10:00 pm and reservations are recommended but not required.
