The interior is burgundy, white, black and gray and features ample low lighting that is perfect for a romantic meal. There are also black and white photos on the wall; with an auto racing theme that brings warmth and subtle charm to the venue.
Outside the restaurant, you will find a large terrace, beautiful gardens, a welcoming fountain and relaxing waterside seating made for sipping wine. Don’t be surprised to find live swans milling about on pond which may add a sense of wonder and delight to your visit. Bonjour is predominately open for dinner in the evenings; although they will open for lunch for groups of 10 or more with advance reservations.
The atmosphere when dining is quite formal and you can expect to find efficient service and special touches like bread that is served piping hot from the oven. Dining at Bonjour is not for the budget conscious, as an average 3 course degustation menu is priced at 5,000 Baht per person and includes 1 glass of sparkling wine and dessert.
Their recently recruited executive chef, Christopher Verdino, (directly from France) adds a new perspective to the menu. The new menu is very focused and refreshingly small while predominately highlighting high end imported items from France and abroad.
You will find standard French classics like frog legs, escargot, beef chateaubriand, pigeon and a plethora of foie gras offerings. You will also find some unexpected high end options like the Golden Iranian Caviar that is unbelievably priced at 29,000 Baht for 125 grams.
On our visit, we sampled a rich and creamy Asparagus Soup which was very silky and delicate with a subtle aroma, and the Cream of Chestnut Soup with Cognac and Pan fried Cubes of Foie Gras. The chestnut soup is truly sublime, with complementary flavor notes that are decadent and satisfying.
The main course was Pan Seared Blue Fin Tuna with Herb Crust, Garlic Puree, Confit of Orange Zest & Bigarade Sauce. This dish is very mild with a crispy, yet flakey crust that highlights the delicate interplay between the warm crust and cool tuna. Light and refreshing, it’s the antithesis of heavy French cuisine. Desert consisted of a bright and fresh Lemmon Curd in Crispy Cigar with Strawberry Coulis.
If you enjoy a relaxing evening in a quiet venue with well prepared dishes that won’t leave you feeling heavy or weighed down, then Bonjour may be just what you have been looking for. Bonjour is also available to prepare a special menu for your parties, functions and private events. Be sure to call ahead as reservations are recommended.
