The Original Indian Chillout Lounge
A meal at Bombay Blues isn’t just about the food, it is an experience. It is a place to escape, to follow your heart, enjoy the people you are with, and relax. Bomby Blues owner, Rajbir Sachanakul, who goes by Romie, has created a very special sanctuary with a chill atmosphere, relaxed vibe and a space that radiates the essence of true comfort. From the moment you enter, the experience begins as time slips by at it’s own pace.

No detail is overlooked, as he and his friendly and knowledgeable staff have a keen gift for “reading” their guests, greeting them as friends and showing them to one of the restaurant’s four distinct sections. Whether you are seated outside or indoors, one thing all of the areas share is that there are no chairs—instead you’ll relax on pillowed mats, beds, or cushions all outfitted with bright, sophisticated jewel-toned accent pillows and bolsters. It’s all about lounging, relaxing and enjoying the setting—and maybe even a decorated shisha. The night slips away amongst the mosaic walls, decorated and bejeweled chandeliers, ambient mood lighting and music being spun by their in-house DJ who plays from 8 until late night every evening.
Start with one of their fabulous signature cocktails, or nice cup of tea while perusing their extensive menu. For a more novel experience, they’ve got table games, like Jenga, and brightly colored vodka jelly shots served in syringes and even cocktail buckets for groups to enjoy together. Each Saturday night is Indian night and the energy is taken up a notch as festive Bollywood tunes fill the air.
Romie’s philosophy is that, while Bombay Blues is a great place to celebrate an occasion, “At Bombay Blues, every moment is an occasion.” He carries this over into the kitchen as well, as the food is magnificent and the presentation exacting. They offer a number of Signature dishes in addition to the standard Indian comfort food like (our favorite) the Chicken Masala. They’ve done amazing things with their fusion dishes, like the Maggie Masala which perfectly blends great chili flavor and creamy home-made paneer.
At Bombay Blues it’s about lifestyle and creativity abounds. They make their own artsy t-shirts, have Bombay Blues CDs and offer customized dishes. Like your food spicy? They can do it. Eat vegetarian? You’ve got pages of dishes to choose from. Do you love sweets? Then you’ve got to try Romie’s own creation, Chocolate Naan: naan bread filled with thick melty chocolate that is rich in flavor, but not too sweet, accompanied by chocolate syrup.
Bombay Blues Indian Cuisine, Bar & Shisha is the original Indian chillout lounge and enjoys a great location, away from the crowds and hassles of Khao San Road, and practically has the Soi to itself after dusk. No one leaves without a smile, as customer satisfaction is the foremost priority for everyone who works there.
Whether you are looking for a romantic place to reconnect with your loved one, or a great space to host a large gathering, Bombay Blues offers the ideal escape. As Romie says, “Follow your heart, life can wait.”
