Bawarchi Indian Restaurant
There is a secret, known to many foreign tourists, that, after 13 years, we Bangkokians are just finding out about. What do they know that we don’t? That Bawarchi is hands-down the absolute best Indian restaurant chain in Bangkok. With four convenient Bangkok locations, you’re never far from a Bawarchi—as they’ve got three restaurants on Sukhumvhit (Soi 11, 3 & 4) and the outstanding flagship location at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Bawarchi is so highly regarded that they have even begun opening franchises in India, leaving us to wonder how is it that those of us who live in Bangkok have missed this gem. Bawarchi´s menu is derivative of traditional Mughals cuisine focusing around the Tandoor clay oven, where breads, fish, meat and poultry are all cooked in the authentic North West Indian style.
Thais and local ex-pats who are “in the know” appreciate the healthy, fresh cuisine that Bawarchi serves. Using only the best sunflower and olive oils, and the freshest vegetables, and healthy cooking methods for their proteins, you’ll enjoy a meal that leaves you feeling great.
The food is incredible, especially the savory curries, the stewed lentils, and the BBQ. There are a couple reasons for this: the ingredients, life saffron, the world’s most expensive spice, which is imported from India,-- like all the spices they use are. The preparation at Bawachi is also remarkable. For instance, dishes like the creamy Dal Makhani are stewed for 48 hours – giving it an unmatched infusion of complex flavors and richness. The crown jewel, though, are the expert chefs who all have come over from India to share their rich cooking tradition, their time-honed techniques, and years of experience in the kitchen.
Bawarchi has also perfected the delicate art of retaining the original recipes, while at the same time adapting them slightly to the Thai palate. Here you will get authentic cuisine that, after 13 years of serving local customers, the chefs at Bawarchi have perfected – causing the restaurant to become a favorite amongst Thais diners. It is not fusion food, it’s just that small details, like the heaviness of the curries has been modified slightly from how they are eaten in India so that Bangkokians have come to love Bawarchi better than all other Indian restaurants in town.
You’ll be wowed by Bawarchi’s atmosphere and service—it is a perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or for a large gathering of friends, family and loved ones. Here they are sensitive to the needs of vegetarian and Halal guests-- vegetarian meals are always prepared separately and the kitchen is Halal, so you never have to worry if everyone’s dietary requirements are met.
We recommend one of their three Sukumvhit locations for a fantastic meal-- and for a very special evening, complete with live Indian music and a particularly atmospheric vibe, you must try the Intercontinental Location—it is amazing!
Bawarchi is open 7 days a week; from 11:00 am - 12:00 am at Intercontinental and 11:00 am - 4:00 am on Sois 11, 3, and 4. Enjoy! We know you will!
