Aubergine Restaurant, Bar & Terrace
Housed in a stunningly converted villa that was once a diplomatic residence, Aubergine exudes a heady combination of casual chic and cosmopolitan elegance. Equally impressive is the French inspired menu with its emphasis on delicious dishes from Provence prepared by the restaurant's resident French executive chef.

Located in a secluded soi off Saladaeng Road in the Silom business district, Aubergine possesses indoor, outdoor and atrium dining opportunities. Open daily for both lunch and dinner, the restaurant is well-known for offering excellent value for money, especially at lunch time.
The set lunches are only 390++ baht for three courses and 490++ for four courses, including complimentary coffee or tea. Starters include items like Chicken liver pate served with toast and gherkin or some fabulous New Zealand mussels with garlic butter. Second courses include Pumpkin soup, Spinach soup or Duck consommé with julienne vegetables. There was a choice of five desserts available, including a smashing Passion fruit tart.
The main courses, however, are what make Aubergine’s set lunches standout from the crowd. When we dined, there were six items available, including Boeuf bourguignon with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables, Homemade papardelle with fish ragu, rocket leaves and bottaga and a personal favorite, Pan-fried duck breast with orange sauce. For beef lovers there is a Grilled New Zealand ribeye with French fries and red wine sauce for 400 baht extra.
In the evening in addition to an a la carte menu of specialities like a scrumptious Pan-fried foie gras with caramelized green apple, rocket and raspberry sauce (790++ baht), Crispy salmon with crushed potato and crushed herbs served with Mediterranean sauce (590++ baht) and Slow cooked lamb shank Provençal style with gratin Dauphnois (690++ baht), Aubergine has two set menus available at dinner: one at 990++ baht and the other at 1990++ baht.
The less expensive menu features a starter, sorbet, main course, dessert and Premier’s tea or Lavazza coffee. Starters include Warm goat's cheese salad with fig and walnut; the main course features classics like Coq au vin and Boeuf bourguignon; and desserts include items like Crème brulee with vanilla essence and Grand Marnier.
The more expensive menu is even more spectacular. Starting with an amuse bouche, it moves to starters like Escargot with garlic butter, a choice of soups from the al la carte menu; main courses like Australian lamb rack served with sautéed spinach, baby carrots and lamb jus; and on to a selection of grand French inspired desserts from the a la carte menu.
Selected by owner, Nunteera Cox, a graduate of London’s Leith’s School of Food and Wine, the wine list is as extensive and striking as the menu. With wines from several countries, it has something for all tastes and pocketbooks. In addition to wines by the bottle, there is also a nice selection of wines by the glass. There is a separate bar for an aperitif, after dinner drink or simply drinking and snacking.
Aubergine is located a short walk from the Saladaeng BTS and Silom MRT stations and for those who drive there is ample on site parking. With its outstanding food, unbeatable atmosphere, and value for money prices, Aubergine is an ideal place to dine, drink and have a good time.
