Gourmet steakhouses are supposed to be expensive… but why isn’t Artur? The wines are supposed to be ridiculously overpriced, so why are they so reasonable here? The quality of the food, the presentation, preparation, every last detail is laboriously attended to, so what’s the catch?

How has Artur managed to build a premium steakhouse and martini bar and charge you less than half of what you’d pay in a hotel? I don’t know.

I don’t know how to make the perfect Martini either, but this one was damned near perfection. Cold, crisp, balanced…the perfect pre-steak drink. It lets your taste buds dance and gets your brain just slightly spongy—spongy enough to absorb the delicious flavors to come.

If you’ve got a keen eye, it’s not just the flavors you’ll absorb. This guy has got an eye for detail. Everything has a story, and everything is connected to something else. From the color scheme to the paintings to the choice of utensils to the construction of the cart—yes there’s a cart—when you step into this place you know that this is among the top restaurants in the city.

Artur is full of stories and full of passion. He started off at the Ritz in Paris where he was a maitre d’hotel, worked with Michelin starred chefs in the best Parisian restaurants, took charge of the famous Ma Maison at the former Hilton in its heydays (now Nai Lert Park). He helped launch and manage the New York Steakhouse for its first five years and the Millenium Hilton’s Prime first year. He even spent a number of years at the private membership Pacific City Club. He’s many things but elitist he’s not. He wants everybody here. The business lunches are a steal, at 490 baht, and the weekend gourmet lunch is set at 950 baht; you won’t find better value. The garden setting, just a quick walk from Central Chidlom is a rarity in these parts.

Artur claims he’s got a new style of cooking tenderloin that must be tasted to be believed. He claims to be the only person in town to use a special technique to turn the meat into melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Try it.

You can order a huge chunk of beef, which Artur will personally carve up in front of you for your party of three or four to share. Juicy, tender, pink, and the sauces… just yum! They’ll toss you a Caesar salad that’s just to your taste… and what if it isn’t? They’ll stand there and toss away until it’s exactly the way you want it.

The accompaniments are there to delight. From the mac’n’cheese to the spinach to the oysters, you’ll realize that freshness and quality pervade every aspect of the meal.

Still have room for desert? You won’t be disappointed.

This restaurant is a bargain and a find. Bring your favorite people here, and bring them fast. A place like this can’t be kept hidden for too long.
